The suction lift of a sump cleaner, such as the CECOR Sump Shark, determines its pumping depth and its ability to handle higher viscosity fluids. This suction lift also provides the power needed to gulp up solids and pull them into the filter basket without clogging.

Unit of measurement for pressure or Suction Lift

Suction lift is measured in inches of mercury (Hg), where 1 inch of mercury is equivalent to moving approximately 13.5 inches of water through a column at 0°C.   This can be measured in both inches of mercury (Hg) and inches of water (WC).  From the table below we will learn 13 inches Hg is the same as moving water 231 inches up a column.  The column in CECOR's case is the sump cleaner hose.  

As illustrated in the chart below, the power source of the CECOR Sump Shark® sump cleaner is the best indicator of its suction lift. Fluid never passes through a Sump Shark pump; instead, the pumps create negative pressure within the sump cleaner, generating the suction lift that suctions fluid through the sump cleaner hose and sludge into our filter system.
