Sump Cleaner Suction Lift

Sump cleaner suction lift is the power behind the sump cleaner.  It relates to the CECOR Sump Sharks:

  • Pumping depth - how deep into a pit the sump cleaner can pull up sludge.
  • Ability to pump higher viscosity fluids.
  • The power required for vacuuming up solids into the filter basket without clogging.

High suction lift is the magic behind the Sump Sharks ability to increase your production staffs productivity.  Customers have told us the Sump Shark® has allowed them to:

  • Reduce labor cost when cleaning sumps.
  • Improve tool life because the metalworking fluids is cleaner.
  • Reduce metalworking fluid costs because of reuse.
  • Aid in reducing the bacteria in the metalworking fluid with scheduled cleanings.

Most Shop-Vacs will only pull about 1.75" of Hg, provided the filter is clean.  From the chart below you will see the power of the CECOR Sump Shark® sump cleaner by power source.  This is the best indicator of the suction lift. Fluid never goes through a Sump Shark pump because our pumps create a negative pressure in our sump cleaner to produce the sump cleaners suction lift and forces the fluid & sludge through our filter system. The suction lift is measured in inches of mercury. 1" of mercury is equivalent to moving roughly 13.5" inches of water through a column at 0 °C. The Suction Lift (wc) column converts the inches of mercury to the pressure created based on a column of water.  The table below shows our suction lift and pump out capabilities by power source:
